John McCutcheon, fellow nature lover and philanthropist has made the decision to leave an enduring legacy for freshwater conservation in Canada, with a bequest gift of $20 million to be distributed to seven organizations, including The ClearWater Futures Foundation (previously known as Ontario Water Centre).

By including the Ontario Water Centre in this donation, he is directly involving and inspiring young people through hands-on learning in nature at ClearWater Farm, our ecological hub right on Lake Simcoe. Inspiring 10 Million Kids to Take on Climate Action
Starting with an international connection between kids in Zomba, Malawi and kids at ClearWater Farm, and in partnership with Trent University’s PEAR lab, young planet protectors took their unique perspectives through paralleled experiences designed to gather new kid-led ideas on how we can better protect the planet, and our future.
These Inspiring experiences in nature using art, science, photography, technology, and story-making, ultimately developed the idea of using “Bold Kindness” to empower young people around the globe to take on climate action. This theme will be used to create new opportunities for young people to learn about what they do to help protect our most precious resources—and like a drop in a pond, we aim to see a ripple effect, ultimately inspiring “10 Million Kids” to do the same.
ClearWater Farm Agripreneur Program Graduates Start Their Own Farms
Natalie and Shehan arrived at ClearWater Farm in 2021 as part of the Young Agripreneur Program with dreams of growing their own veggie and flower farm. While making their way through the program, learning the ins and outs of operating a regenerative farm, they were able to launch their own business, Green and Bloom Farm with land and greenhouse space provided on the farm.
“ClearWater is a great place for us to be to integrate what we want to do while also not being completely on our own. We have the opportunity to work here and learn from ClearWater and we have access to the infrastructure, the greenhouse, tools, and equipment that we cannot afford on our own. We get to be here learning and growing with ClearWater but still working towards the start of our own farm. It’s the perfect steppingstone.” – Natalie, 2022
Natalie and Shehan have now spread their wings and moved Green and Bloom to their own farming property in Orangeville, successfully operating their own CSA basket program and selling good food and beautiful flowers at markets throughout the GTA.
They are the 4th and 5th graduates to start their own farms- helping to keep Canadian farmland and create healthier communities.
Future Chicken Reaches New Planet-Positive Heights (And Places)
Just 15 months since hatching in November 2023, Future Chicken, with its partner Wind Sun Sky Entertainment Ltd., has produced and released 260 eco-tainment videos on YouTube amassing over 21 million views. With subscribers recently quadrupling in just one week! Future Chicken is immersed in today’s expanded media landscape from Roblox to Podcasts, creating a hope-filled future for today’s children to counter climate “doomism” through positivity and empowerment.
And Planet Protectors all around the world are taking notice- like 2BeNamed in Latin America, where Future Chicken’s planet positive messages will be broadcasted on KidOO, their premier children’s platform and other family channels.
